Museum · Satu Mare
About
The project was initiated by the Municipality of Satu Mare to raise the city’s tourist potential by creating a new attraction of local and regional interest — a museum centre distinct from those existing in the city and the region, built to the newest standards in the field, using interactive methods and digital technologies to offer a unique experience and to ensure access to culture and education for everyone, regardless of location or background.
Through this regionally unique project, a multifunctional space is being created which will place Satu Mare on the map of thematic museums, while the local community gains an inspiring communal space — through knowledge of the past and everyday use of the space.
The museum’s components
Permanent exhibition
A generous space with authentic period décor and objects: the stages and main themes of the communist period, through a unique combination of old equipment and digital technology — with a general section on communism, the Revolution and the 1990s.
Thematic exhibitions
A multifunctional space for thematic exhibitions and events — an architecture biennale, conferences and workshops — covering the communist and post-1989 periods.
Community spaces
Spaces returned to the citizens, especially the young, for educational, cultural and thematic activities: art, music, literature and more.
